Fall Teams

NEW PROGRAM starting September 2026! 

Smash Volleyball Fall Teams: competitive volleyball for grades 8-10. Tryouts run late September, practices through December. Register for tryouts now.

What is Fall Teams? 

  • for grade 8-10 players who want to play volleyball this fall
  • want to play with friends
  • for players who didn’t make their school grade 8,9,10 team or who made it, but want to play both
  • want competitive games and practices
  • hope to prepare for club season

Additional information about Fall Teams:

  • Tryouts held late September to early October. Practices starts after Thanksgiving weekend.
  • Capacity for 70-80% of kids at tryouts to be placed on teams with 3-4 teams @ grade 8/9/10 boys, 3-4 teams @ grade 8 girls, and 3-4 teams @ grade 9/10 girls.
  • Season length: 7–8 weeks.  Once a week practice and playdays on five Saturdays. No practices or playdays on holiday weekends. 
  • Team t-shirt included
  • Tentative Weekly practice location options: Tuesday or Wednesday at locatiton TBA, Thursday at Ecole Anne-Hebert (7051 Killarney St.), or Sunday morning at Osborne Centre UBC
  • Playdays on Saturday morning at Gladstone Secondary School (4105 Gladstone St).
  • Registration fees: $695

Fall Team Tryouts: Players only need to register for one tryout session. Players that have played on a Smash Development team in 2026 are guaranteed a spot on a team but must still register and attend a tryout session.

Boys grade 8-10: REGISTER

  • Sept 27 Osborne Centre, UBC 11:15am-1pm $45 + GST
  • Sept 29 Queen Alexandra Elementary: 7:45pm-9:15pm grade 8-10 boys $45 + GST (TBA)
  • Oct 3 Gladstone Secondary School: 12pm-1:45pm grade 8-10 boys $45 + GST
  • Oct 3 Gladstone Secondary School: 2pm-3:45pm grade 8-10 boys  $45 + GST

Girls grade 8: REGISTER

  • Sept 22 Queen Alexandra Elementary: 7:45pm-9:15pm grade 8 girls $45 + GST (TBA)
  • Sept 27 Osborne Centre, UBC 9:15am-11am $45 + GST 
  • Sept 29 Queen Alexandra Elementary: 6:15pm-7:45pm grade 8 girls $45 + GST (TBA)
  • Oct 1 Ecole Anne-Hebert 6:15pm-7:45pm grade 8 girls $45 + GST
  • Oct 3 Gladstone Secondary School: 12pm-1:45pm grade 8 girls  $45 + GST

Girls grade 9/10: REGISTER

  • Sept 22 Queen Alexandra Elementary: 6:15pm-7:45pm grade 9/10 girls  $45 + GST (TBA)
  • Sept 27 Osborne Centre, UBC 1:15pm-3pm $45 + GST 
  • Oct 1 Ecole Anne-Hebert 7:45pm-9:15pm grade 9/10 girls  $45 + GST
  • Oct 3 Gladstone Secondary School: 2pm-3:45pm grade 9/10 girls $45 + GST

Once tryouts are completed, an email will be sent to all parents with one of the following subject lines:

  • Selected: Please register for Fall Teams. A link will be sent to register with the opportunity to make friend requests and practice day preference. Fall Teams registration is $695
  • Waitlist: Please register for the Fall weekly program called Practice & Compete if space allows for more players in Fall Teams, your child will be offered a spot from players registered in this program.
  • Not-Selected: Please register for a Fall Weekly Skills & Games program.

Tuesday teams location TBA (x2 teams): Oct 13, 20, 27, Nov 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec 1

Wednesday teams location TBA (x2 teams) Oct 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, (no practice Nov 11 Remembrance Day), Nov 18, 25, Dec 2, 9

Thursday Ecole Anne-Hebert teams (x2 teams): Oct 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 12, 19, 26, Dec 3

Sunday Osborne UBC (x5 teams): Oct 18, 25, Nov 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Playdays: Oct 24, 31, Nov 7, Nov 21, Dec 5 at Gladstone Secondary School (Saturday morning)
